Not so fast, Haquihana. Have you forgotten there's a GOP senator from Rhode Island who doesn't necessarily vote Republican?

If Bush wins, Dick Cheney would love this scenario. It'd mean Lieberman would remain in the Senate, and with the GOPster from Rhode Island siding with the Democrats, it'd mean Cheney wouldn't have to vote in a tie-breaker. We know, of course, that Cheney, who only voted twice out of the past 16 elections, doesn't like to be bothered with voting. (LOL)

Again, not so fast.

Yes, if Gore-Lieberman wins a Connecticut GOP governor will appoint a GOP senator. But think about this. Remember Senator Weicker? A liberal Connecticut Republican. Remember Senator Chafee? A liberal Rhode Island Republican. You might be forgetting that they don't do things in New England like they do things in Texas, Haqihana.

Heck, even New Hampshire, long the sole GOPwinger stronghold in New England, has changed. In fact, lots of folks still think New Hampshire is rural when, in fact, nearly two-thirds of its population is metropolitan.

The key is this. Republicans won't be able to shut down the debate in the Senate. They simply don't got da votes!

If Bush wins, the Senate will be split 50-50 with the son of the late Senator Chafee often siding with Democrats, thereby depriving Cheney of his tie-breaking voting power. But don't you think that's good, since Cheney doesn't like to vote?
