I suspect that you have hit this contest right on the head. It's obvious that I want Bush, but it is definitely in his favor for things to not be settled until say 1 year from now:)

The Bush team now states that the reason that Gore should not get his manual recounts in those selected counties is because a manual recount would be unfair unless it is done state wide!!!!! That is chutzpah to the tenth power.

No, I think what is chutzpah is the Gore people trumpeting the "every vote counts" line and then ignoring the 20,000 undervotes in Duval County which could yield Bush many more than Miami-Dade yields Gore.

But chutzpah to the 100th power is the Gore camp using the smallest technicalities to disqualify oversees ballots and then demanding the broadest definitions of counting chads in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade.

If the judge orders recounts in these counties do you think he should order a hand count of those Duval votes too?

I do love your sports analogy, I think that is precisely what is taking place.

IMO, Bush's argument that Gore selectively requested a recount in Democratic counties is frivolous. My mother, who is a Democrat, keeps saying, well, why won't Bush accept a statewide recount then? Just so.

But it's a side issue to Bush's real arguments, so I don't put a lot of thought into it.

It is not going to make any difference to the final result, it just appeals to the emotions.
