jttmab,

if the various govts would content themselves with roads and bridges and dams and plowing snow, etc., there wouldn't be a problem, and the taxpayer would have 3/4ths of what he pays now back in his pocket. I have served on the local road and bridge commission, and know a thing or two about it.

But that is not the way on govt officials. They derive their power from how much of your money they control (spend). The more they spend, the more power they have. And what politician is mature enough to refuse power, when it is there to be had?

Regards, Moose
