I said significant benefit, and the implications was "for X86 CPUs". You can build a GHZ DSP on .25 (perhaps .35, anybody keep track of such parts?)

Notice that there are now three classes of processors when it comes to IPC.

Best includes P3 and Athlon

Average includes P4 and Celeron

Poor is Via and Winchip.

There is no doubt whatsoever that Intel has the best .18mu Al process. AMD's .18mu copper might be close, but it's hard to tell for an outsider like me ;)
