Petz,

is it true that Durons on not really multiplier "locked" but multiplier "limited?" I think you can set the multiplier lower than normal without doing any pencil tricks, if you have a motherboard with jumpers.

Good question. It true, it would make it easy to use 100 MHz FSB rated parts in 133 MHz rated motherboards.

Dunno about that, Petz. BTW, the Iwill boards have a listing on pricewatch, $199 w/o RAID, $239 with, microx-press.com and microx-press.com . Not in stock, unfortunately. Also a little pricey to be matched with a $60 Duron. We'll have to watch for KT133 boards that will do a 133 bus reliably.

Cheers, Dan.

Petz, Re: "is it true that Durons on not really multiplier "locked" but multiplier "limited?" I think you can set the multiplier lower than normal without doing any pencil tricks, if you have a motherboard with jumpers."

Well, I didn't read too closely but I confirm something you didn't ask. I was able to underclock my pencil tricked Duron to 500 MHz. Tried a lower set of dips but the MB just beeped. Then accidentally tried one "off the chart" and it beeped again. Why are there more dips than needed for the 5.0 to 12.5 range?

Someone else with a non-pencilled Duron and MB allowing multiplier adjustments will have to try. I could erase the pencil but don't like dealing with the heatsink - lots of pressure for high efficiency thermal transfer.
