Chaintech has two new DDR mobos for PIII and Celeron II based on VIA's Pro266 chipset. One is a purely DDR board, while the other offers the option of using either SDR or DDR memory.

The 6VJD has 3 DDR 200/266 memory slots for up 3GB of RAM. The board also sports five PCI, one ACR and an AGP slot, AC-97 compliant audio codec, Ultra DMA 66/100 drive support and connections for up to six USB ports.

The 6VJD2 motherboard has similar features plus two PC100/133 and two DDR 200/266 slots, which allows users the choice of using existing DIMMs or boosting performance with DDR memory.

The company has also revamped its mobos based on Intel's 815EP chipset. The 6OJA3 has six PCI slots, four USB ports and user configurable Vcore settings. The 6OJV3 is an enhanced version of the original 815E ATX motherboard that offers user adjustable Vcore settings. Both boards can be software-configured and - gasp - overclocked.

Both the 6OJA3 and 6OJV3 have three PC133 DIMM slots, six PCI slots, ATA-100 drive support, six channel C-Media 8738 PCI audio and Hard Disk Drive Instant Recovery (HDD IR) as standard features. The 6OJV3 also offers shared memory on-board video capabilities with an integrated 24-bit 230MHz RAMDAC. ®
