Assuming I'm right (somebody correct me if I'm not), what Bipin was trying to say is that losing CEO caliber people isn't a bad thing. It means the company is a good training ground for star quality. The likelihood is that if you have more than one leave, there are more in the background.

Look at GE. Immelt is, IMHO, the choice I would have gone with. He's young, brash, able to think quickly, and is likely to continue Welch's solid management style. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

On the other hand, one could think that GE should've lost investors over the years due to the number of CEOs who have come from the GE stable - that they were losing alot of talent. They did lose alot of talent. But they have a ton more.
I'd say that ORCL is going to have a similar situation.
