This is "irrational exuberance" in reverse. Some semis and box makers are trading at 1998 levels. I'm afraid that more bad news is on the way. We will be entering into the earnings warning period in a couple weeks. Although many stocks are now trading at discounted levels, the fear of an even greater market downturn is likely to propel stocks lower. It is likely to be nasty through the mid December tax loss selling season. This market could go to the level where people are shaking their heads in dis-belief. I was shaking my head last January-April as these things shot up to idiotic levels - but I myself was too much of an idiot to short them.
