It's amazing to see that all three - Dell, Compaq and Gateway all traded below $20 in AH. Yowza. Make it stop. Still, I don't see HOW AMD could warn. As much as I've wanted an ad campaign - when I see one I will worry that they are not selling all of their chips.

What's worse, I'm out of commission for the next three trading days. It might be for the better.

Regards,

David (in the poor house)

John:

"The market is a verb not a noun. It does as it wishes. Trying to describe it is fruitless."

I'm finding out the hard way!!!

But people spend their entire careers describing the "market". Tools, such as technical analysis programs, are used to formulate some sense out of how the market trades. And ratios and fundamental metrics, such as valuation ratios and earnings, are used to describe the market or at last how it has compared to them in the past. The price you can buy and sell at is the only thing that matters and that is determined by some things like money flows and mob psychology.

I disagree that it is fruitless to describe the market. It is an investor's job to look at the market and stocks objectively and "describe" if they should buy or sell. Either that or just dollar cost average in a mutual fund and sit back and relax.
