- My biggest mistake this year:

Instead of giving investment advice, I gave stock recommendation to a friend with little investment experience. It's hard to get over the guilty feeling of losing other people's money.

I forgot that mistake and am glad you brought it up. Earlier this year LindyBill suggested to me that when a family member or friend ask for stock picks that I tell them to buy an index fund. That was good sound advice. Most of my family or friends don't want to do the research necessary but are very quick to point out to me if one of the stocks I recommend plummets. Even though I told them way back that these stocks can be volatile it's seems to escape their minds. I have to remind them LTB&H was their approach so just ignore the fluctuations if they are confident in the company. And that is the rub. Most of them don't even bother to understand the companies they buy resulting in panic, whining and complaining to me. I have now added that rule to my investment rules.

I think that's part of the training for the series 7 exam.
