3Q Conference Call Notes:

They didn't mention any slowdown in business and are maintaining their estimates for the year. 30% growth in most markets.

I always like Jerry's comments because he gives us the big picture. He stressed that WRS is in a unique position because it is the first End to End Smart Device company. WRS is both an enabler and a beneficiary of the growth of the Internet. He said it was a great forward feedback loop: more people getting connected at higher speeds (DSL will grow 900% over the next 3 years) creates new markets for higher value added products. WRS has the products and the market position to succeed. This is the network effect discussed earlier on this thread.

He also mentioned that a new business is opening up in management of devices including upgrading, security, maintenance. Rapid Logic was the market leader in this area. Windstorm will help also in Java space. Xylynx is an example of this type of business.

He did mention I2O becoming very important for infrastructure products including storage. Infrastructure business doing well.

The outsourcing trend continues to grow especially as companies enter new and more complex markets. Large companies view WRS as a capable and reliable partner with the core competencies they need. But they want to maintain their in-house software investments too and are not making wholesale switches.

Other notes:

Interest in Linux is slowing down.

They held a board of directors meeting in Japan and got to meet several high level executives of Japanese electronic companies helping to build relationships there.
