Jill: now nobody knows at that point where it will go--right

Of course no one ever knows for sure, but some of us through analysis called it for what it was, a counter trend rally.

If I'm misinterpreting please explain.

I will explain, but I do not have time tonight. I'll file this post in my "respond" file and get back to you.

I will say, just because a stock or indice's price returns to a previous high or low does not in and of itself make a trading range. This has clearly been a downtrend with counter trend rallies, channeled moves and various consolidation patterns, but not a medium-term trading range. Today's close is in the price trading area of Oct 99, I doubt you would call the last 13 or so months a trading range.

Note: I have been assuming when you say trading range you are referring to a horizontal price action trading range often referred to as a rectangle.
