Jack: Good question. CPQ said a couple of days ago that it wasn't them, either. I haven't studied their results and conference call yet, but I'm tempted to say HWP probably stuffed the channel. Their computing systems business segment grew 29 percent year over year, and margins were just half of the previous quarter at a measly 3.7 percent. (I don't what the estimates were.) HWP had to have been desperate, given how crushing the quarter was. Of course, HWP claims it didn't know how its quarter was tracking -- which isn't exactly reassuring.

I'm expecting another big miss out of AAPL, too. They're marking down wildly, have a history of channel-stuffing, have had disappointing early results from the Cube, still haven't shipped Mac OS X. . . . Ugh--.
