That dead horse would have won if it hadn't been for Nader sucking up 3% on the left. Personally I'm for campaign finance reform and opening up the process. But the dems still have a large base from all walks of life. Big enough to dominate any election in which they have a charismatic candidate. Gore fell a little short in that respect. He's brilliant but he failed to inspire. Meanwhile Bush had good ole boy gusto in reserve which confused the middle. They weren't sure who to vote for. Thus the tie.
