Iqbal and FredE, it is possible to blame this slowdown on 3 entities - the Fed, the computer companies and the election mess. The fed tightened too much and kept it tight for too long. The computer companies couldn't generate excitement. The election mess DID reduce productivity and DID cause at least some folks to not buy stuff. Considering how many people are paying close attention to this story and think this could be a crisis, I bet that at least some portion of the decision to put off buying can be attributed to the election.

Recently around Seattle area, I have heard that some home mortgage applications are being turned down. Credit is becoming tighter. And Bubba is leaving town at the right moment. What a market timer!!!
