"How can you defend one and excoriate the other? "

I didn't. If you read my post I was very clear about this...I think-vbg-

I was pointing out a reason that I thought the Boy Scouts may have this policy.

Now that you have asked, I will be brief in defining my position.

I think a person has a right to be gay. I have no problem with it. I do have a problem when someone gay attempts to promote their lifestyle to kids. If kids are going to be gay, then so be it, but let them reach that conclusion on their own. Its not ok to teach that having two moms or dads is ok. Its not ok to teach a boy scout that it is ok to have sex with a man.

It is only when someone crosses that line between their personal choice and promotion of a biologically disfunctional sexual preference that I take issue.

It is the fairest position that I think I could have adopted. I think it allows the maximum number of people to practice their preference while protecting the rights of those not yet capable of making an informed decision.
