These are theosophist teachings, undocumented, speculative, but interesting. Judging by Christian and Jewish mysticism, any conceivable Hindu influence would have been trivial in the West. Western mysticism seems to have its origin in Greek philosophy; Biblical elements like Elijah's chariot, and the allegorical interpretation of Scripture; and the vaguely eastern "mystery cults" that grew up in the Roman Empire, and about which there is little documentation. The Greek influence was felt in the development of various Gnostic theosophical sects, the most successful of which were the Neoplatonists and the Manicheans. Some of them did, indeed, believe in reincarnation. Anyway, the main Jewish tradition, the Kabbalah, is largely a combination of Gnostic themes and allegorical Biblical interpretation. The main Christian tradition seems to be be indebted to Neoplatonism.......
