Ron, I'm an atheist, but I sometimes think I'm a much better Christian that the Christians. I believe in the commonality of human DNA and the filtering process which we go through in our lives; the unsuitable DNA being filtered out of the gene pool.

It's a very harsh process, but nature is not noted for a sense of live and let live.

We have obviously been filtered quite quickly from a chimp-like ancestor to our current less hairy [somewhat], mostly bipedal form, with a big lump over our eyebrows.

While there was territoriality and hunter-gathering in tribal structures, it made sense to kill or otherwise see off neighbouring tribes so that one's DNA could propagate most prolifically. One could even be altruistic and die for the good of the tribe and one's DNA left behind in cousins, siblings and descendants.

But it seems to me we are moving beyond that concept and I think Christianity hit on the point a long time ago. We are one family and increasingly so [not that Christians act that way much of the time - think IRA]. Better to hijack somebody else's DNA and bring it into service of one's own - actually, it becomes one's own. I can think of some DNA which would help me out quite a bit!

Anyway, I was going to rant some more, and get to CDNA and It, but I'm all ranted out for now.

Suffice to say the DNA filtering process is continuing apace, with 6 billion of us being filtered. I suspect that we could reasonably be called one tribe nowadays [not really, but getting that way, especially with globalisation, intermarriage etc gathering pace].

The military mayhem you mentioned seems so last-century, pointless and absurd. Yes, I know, think of Saddam and Jiang Zemin and don't be too sure about how absurd it is! Yeltsin, Clinton and any number of others are keen on power too. I guess there is more filtering to go.

Go CDNA and Cyberspace.

I hope I don't end up in a DNA filter...
