"On that, you, I, and Mike (I strongly suspect), are in total agreement."

Jim- Yes I do. That was my main point. WS always goes through these gyrations moving from sector to sector. Once in awhile all the moons line up properly and we get a whammy of a hit. That is what happened in telecom. They started the avalanche the day after Labor Day, the media jumped in with both feet, AND they got some key warnings from some key players in the industry they were slamming. To top it all off, we've got the uncertainty of who is going to be president. ALL these contributed to a MASSIVE beating of the telecom sector below what most would call a lowering to 'reasonable' valuations. It could have been biotech just as easy. Or oil&gas. Or consumer durables. Or banking. Or etc...it happens all the time.

My only real fear--Was the alignment of all the moons on the post Labor Day debacle, enough to start a recession? Bad timing to have it happen right before the biggest consumer spending spree(Christmas). And how is the world going to react when there is no federal budget surplus because there are no capital gains? Can AG come to the rescue as before? I don't have a clue. -MikeM(From Florida)
