I have thought from the beginning that Mr. Greenspan was setting a course for problems. I think he's too busy taking care of old railroad money to serve the needs of both common people and the people who are innovating.

I remember Lawrence Kam's introduction of the word "disintermediation" like the day Kennedy got shot. It made some interesting sense in how the disk drive industry was organized, but it is a word that will strike fear through the hearts of America once we start to see grocery stores, record shops, book stores, department store and many, many other types of businesses closing branches. It just does not seem possible that these businesses can continue on their current model. Hence we do see major grocers merging and closing down branches in preparation.

I personally think Greenspan has screwed us and to have waited to lower interest rates this last month was a sign of senility. Well, the market has turned from a reluctant bear into full sell we're going down the tubes. Maybe there's a capitulation that's going to take place, but I don't know. Personally, it has killed my portfolio. I'm down 80%. I can’t believe it because there are so many reasons why this thing should be working.

One of my biggest positions is in the Fixed Wireless Broadband equipment market. These guys sell stuff that makes it possible to serve up 1 to 155 mbps wireless networks. They should be doing very well. The problem is governments have screwed the licenses buyers with ridiculous prices, same in wireless telephone, and now they can't buy equipment. They would have floated shares or taken reasonable debt for the roll out, but now they are stuck. Some will go bankrupt. Then the railroad guys will step in and buy their licenses for 10 cents on the dollar. They'll not pay the government. The government will say that's fine because we need to stimulate the economy, wink wink. The old school power will perform a coupe on the new economy.

This is a conspiracy, probably greater than what's taking place in the election. Maybe it's connected?

At least I won't have to pay any tax this year.

Regards,

Mark
