AT&T Selects Nortel, Lucent, And Ericsson

NEW YORK (Reuters) - AT&T Wireless Group Inc. (AWE.N) has
picked Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU.N), Nortel Networks Corp.
(NT.TO) (NT.N) and Ericsson (LMEb.ST) (ERICY.O) to supply
equipment for its high-speed wireless Internet services, the
companies said on Thursday.

Financial terms for the so-called third-generation gear
were not disclosed.

AT&T Wireless, a unit of No. 1 long-distance and cable TV
company AT&T Corp. (T.N), will use R520 mobile phones from
Sweden's Ericsson to start up its General Packet Radio Service
network, Ericsson said. Ericsson also will supply base station
systems.

Canada's Nortel said it would supply a core network
infrastructure. Lucent will design and install advanced base
stations using the Global System for Mobile Communications
standard.
