GTW rushed to warn based on one weekend. I suspect the problem is with a slow start to what will become a good(not great) christmas season. If memory serves me correctly, even last year we heard much about shoppers, not buyers but it all worked out. Yes PC growth has slowed but I my suspicion is that one weekend does not a season make and that Gateway's problems might have something to do with loss of market share. Remember cpq just challenged SSB re: channel stuffing. Dell lowered expectations to 20% growth. It was Kumar, i believe, who just last week raised INTC estimates for the next quarter. Let us thank Gateway management here because this morning may be the capitulation we have been waiting for. I wish I had money left to buy but I remain fully convinced that this is a soft landing, that the election will be resolved by 12/12 and that anti-recession AG will be changing bias on(or before) 12/17.
