What is this rubbish, Keith? Obviously my good old friend Gregg Powers - with whom I used to fiercely discuss Globalstar´s possibilities before it, well, tanked - has clearly lost his line of thought here.

I was about to write "gone bonkers" but I remembered at the last minute the prophetlike posture he enjoys among the adoring Q believers.

Diversity of 3G? There will be very little diversity. Its going to be the United Nations of WCDMA. Ditto the economic scales of services developed and handsets produced: any operator with CDMA2000 will be at bad disadvantage. Realization of this drove the Korean operators do the right thing, regardless of high govt. pressure, probably torture and the fact they had to give up sex for 72 hrs.

And how possibly it could be good for Q that their system lost? They were able to build any amount of their IPR into it.

Meanwhile the other guys were able to design their very own version of the theme. Expect very little gain for Q, either in handsets nor telecom equipment side. Remember Q was the bad guy making all the wrong noises when the standard was written.
