Dueling 2000

Everyone seems to be in an uproar about the current election crisis. Jesse Jackson, white-haired old ladies and 95% of the democratic party are apoplectic. However, I believe we have a historical precedent for solving this dilemma. History suggests that George Bush and Al Gore go back to back, ten paces, with a flintlock, turn and fire. The guy left standing is the President. If Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton could solve their differences this way, why shouldn't it work now? However in this case, both men should be required to conduct this duel based on his political beliefs. George Bush should be allowed to upgrade his firearm to an AK47 assault rifle and Al Gore, after walking ten paces and turning, should be required to fumble in the dark for the key to his trigger lock!
