This thread has, by some miracle, mostly avoided the petty arguments that characterize other political threads, and it would be nice if it stayed that way.

Very true.

I have lots of "conservatives" on ignore, mostly from the days when all there was to read was the Bush thread. Now jttmad has joined several of his/her more childish cohorts in the land of ignore.

And as an independent who has never voted for Bob Dole...I respect his courage as well.

I remember that back in 1976 when he was running as VP, Dole was called the "Hatchet Man". Now, I know he has mellowed a lot, but even by those '76 standards, he is far less partisan than the players of today.

CobaltBlue,

I certainly agree with you on Sen. Dole.

What I do not understand is why the large number of intelligent conservatives tolerate that group? Putting them on Ignore is just a passive form of tolerance. They are just another hate group.

You're perhaps aware that the Framers were concerned about the size of the population being an obstacle in understanding the will of the people; they fully knew that factions, [Madison, I recall] could be quite loud and distort the view.

I do get angry, but it doesn't have anything to do with whether Bush or Gore wins or loses. I get angry when someone is strung up on a barbed wire fence in Wyoming or dragged by the neck with a chain anchored to the back of a pick up truck. e-Bill and Cyberken hold the keys to that truck.

Best Regards,
jttmab
