<The Dow would have to be collapsing as fast as the NASDAQ.>

The NASDAQ has a much higher valuation than the DOW so shouldn't it fall at a much greater rate as growth decelerates?

The recent decline in the NASDAQ Composite of 50%, while it occurred in only 8 months, to me classifies a bear market. People who held tech stocks through that decline saw some real damage to their portfolios.

<The NASDAQ is reflecting slower forward earnings potential. And as Such SHOULD sell off. But that does not make the Markets into a bear.>

I'm not disputing the reason behind the sell off. The Dow and S@P should follow the NAsdaq's lead and hit new lows for this move.

PS Great Call on ABX

<<Excuse me; are you CALLING this a bear market? >>

You fail to note there are often bear markets that involve one sector of a market or several markets but not all markets. The Internets are now in a Bad Bad Bear market - and it may last for a generation.
