Lots of people attack and call people names. I feel sorry for people that seem to need to do that. Of course I think a lot of people are stupid. And I wouldn't hesitate to share my opinions with some of the irritating stupid people that annoy me. Is that the same thing? Well, sort of. We all want to label people. But you are correct that people like Chris WOULD be gleeful about their proxy God punishing people whom they believe are believing incorrectly. And that IS ugly. I think people punish themselves more than enough. After all Chris has to live as Chris- and that is hell enough for anyone. I think it's all a manner of degree. We are all on a continuum with all these feelings and beliefs and actions. It's just the fundamentalists push the envelope- that's what makes them so objectionable and dangerous. If it was all inner directed they wouldn't be a problem.
