Buck, Micron's chipset plans have always been very vague, and it's always been unclear what's a technology demo and what, if anything, will make it to market. They do, apparently, have the Rendition graphics core in house, but it's not clear if they are committed to any real follow through there.

The integrated chipset field is actually sort of crowded, I still see Nvidia as the medium-term favorite there. The Mamba eDRAM cache chipset is relatively unique and thus probably a better bet to come to market. A google search turned up this old schedule vr-zone.com, credited to digit-life, but I doubt if it means much.

Cheers, Dan.

Micron shifts gears on DDR chipset ebnews.com

Shuffling back through random windows, I found a link to this piece, from a couple weeks back, including a bit about Shogun:

Separately, Micron chairman Steve Appleton said in an interview that Shogun is planned to add the firm's Rendition graphics core for an integrated graphics Northbndge. He couldn't set any timetable for introducing Shogun to the market.

Added to what, it doesn't say. If they could fit the graphics core together with Mamba, it'd be cool, but that would be stretching things a bit.

Cheers, Dan.

Buck: Also, can someone comment on the most current release dates for the VIA DDR (AMD and P3) chipsets. I'm confused about which is due out first from VIA.

Well, there's a bit of confusion all around on that point. It has always been the (public) plan that VIA would launch the P4 chipset first, but recent rumors indicate that they won't launch until late Q2. This could be due to the lack of a license from Intel - then again, maybe not. I believe the public announcements were that the Athlon chipset would be out sometime Q1.
