RE:"If GTW is going to miss by $500,000,000 you'd have to think both AMD and INTC are in a world of hurt this quarter. Not that GTW is any world class company, but that's one hell of a revenue miss."

Well, when Dell and Intel warned, AMD people said it was an Intel problem. With Gateway they can't do that as easily. So yes, don't look 'guud 'fur AMD or Intel. Altera didn't help either...through in Gore and the margin calls continue...as the election seems to have pushed us over the edge.

If GTW is going to miss by $500,000,000 you'd have to think both AMD and INTC are in a world of hurt this quarter.

GTW, random, unsupported thoughts on possible differentiation-

1. Moved the entire corporate HQ from Nebraska (?) to a beach house in Newport Beach because Ted wanted to be near the water. Beaucoo huge costs.

2. Decided to open a chain of cow stores (with the attendant huge costs) at a time when Dell was net only, and CPQ let Radio Shack pay.

3. Thinks that SMP stands for Stop all Mental Process.

4. Borrowed to the eyeballs, snuggled up to some banks, and mortgaged the future of the company. Which works VERY well in the short term..... Be interesting to see how much stock Ted has left. :))

(These are MUSINGS. The financing status of the company (4.) is important but I reached this personal opinion/conclusion three years ago, AND HAVE NOT RECHECKED IT SINCE)

<Not that GTW is any world class company, but that's one hell of a revenue miss.>

Is not it possible that their high revenue projections
were due to anticipation of good sales from P4 machines?
Yes, the ones that unexpectedly are having certain
problems?
