Massive oil spill from a crude oil tanker south of New Orleans. Actually right by Port Sulphur, which is the last place on the Mississippi you can get to by car on that side of the river. South of that, nothing but swamp. My dad's houseboat is south - looks like he won't be duck hunting any time soon. At least the Mississippi is powerful enough to flush it out to sea, but an awful lot is going to get into the mangroves and stay. I bet a lot of snowy egrets and other birds are going to be killed. Too bad.
