James...this is not directed at you...

I'm personally sick of hearing all votes have not been counted....and the democrats still claiming they won Florida not once have they been ahead in the count recount selected hand recount???

my solution.....

George W Bush is President for the next two years as the certified winner of Florida while a hand recount of EVERY under vote ballot across the US is counted....."dimples, pimples, impressions" are not to be counted as votes...very simple. (there are over 170,000 under vote ballots not being divined in Florida) If after that count Al Gore is proved to be the winner popular and elector vote then he should serve the remaining 2 years.

James what's your take on this mess of a market? What sort of a recovery are you expecting and over what period of time? Guesstimate of course. This is as bad as I've seen in my wee 6.5 years of investing. I'm almost fully invested have no debt and am basically 'hoping' my picks are good enough to appreciate when/if this mess is done. I understand a great deal of technical damage has been done and a recovery could be a slow one. A lot of people are bleeding. Like OJ said a while back "Ike this time it looks different" It certainly does. It feels as though I'm about to become a statistic. niv

OT: one last post from me on this (i hope :-)

[this is not specifically meant for you James]

there is obviously an margin of error (no matter how large or small) in the vote counting process. why pretend that it's possible to be perfect about it?

do the machine count, or another machine count if necessary... count all the absentee ballots too (which, btw, has not happened everywhere)

sure the law provides for legal remedy. but imo that sets a bad example. what happens if I walk along the sidewalk in front of your house and slip and fall... can I sue you? you bet. but why would i? unless there's gross negligence or other perhaps aggravated circumstances (your dog was chasing me), it's just a fact of life. things happen.

so for the vote counting, unless there's somekind of fraud or gross negligence, i do not understand all these recounts.

perhaps they should recount the entire US as Jeff points out. more waste of time and taxpayers dollars.

the nation needs to move on already. both candidates are essentially the same and, imo, neither is worthy of the office.
