donald,
could you explain that if we are trading nas stocks that the vix doesn't have anything to do with the nas and anyone waiting for a high vix is only getting one today because of the dow and s&p selling. if vix had anything to do with nas it woulda been over 60 by now and even in previous days. it could screw up the nas indicators. i bot nas but not sp.

I believe vix is the weighted average of 8 near term, near the money S&P puts and calls. Not even connected to nas. correct me if i'm wrong.

Don, all my indicators say the same thing, but because of the end of day trading and because I have been in cash for a LONG time I will say this is close enough to the bottom and go back in today. I was targeting OEX 667, this number being 20% down from 835... but what do I know, Gersh says 633. So there is a bottom in here somewhere.gggg

The 4 day steep declining channel was just broken to the upside. Time to go long at least for a bounce.

I'm not too sure there's much more downside to be squeezed out for the moment. 73 broker downgrades to only 12 upgrades. This is bullish, unless the brokers have suddenly got religion and decided to help get everyone out of the market. <g>

I increased my long SPX position by 15% at the close.

When was the last time we had 800 new lows?
