Been buying PKD yesterday and today at $4. One reason I like it is the day traders pile on at times similar to GLBL. That would be assuming there are any left following the blood bath. Found the following on THX per share earnings for 2001 if you take the middle of the road will be $4ish. Not bad.

Houston Expl. projects 2001 earns of $109-145 mln
HOUSTON, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Houston Exploration Co.(NYSE:THX - news) projected on Thursday that its net income for 2001 would amount to about $119 million if natural gas futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange average $4 per million British thermal units (mmbtu) next year.

The company said in a statement its net income for 2001 would amount to about $109 million if NYMEX natural gas futures prices average $3.50 mmbtu next year, or $145 million if futures average $4.50 mmbtu.

Houston Exploration said that its forecasts take account of a hedging program that covers 70 percent of its production for 2001 and assumes production for the year of 86 billion cubic feet of gas equivalent (bcfe). The company has previously announced that it expects production of 84-92 bcfe next year.

The hedging program, approved by Houston Exploration's board, makes use of costless collars. It consists of previously placed hedges for January through March 2001 with a floor of $3 per mmbtu and a ceiling of $3.63 mmbtu plus newly placed hedges which extend to the end of 2001. The new hedges have a floor of $4 per mmbtu and ceilings ranging from $6 to $7.25 per mmbtu with a weighted average ceiling of $6.19 per mmbtu.

Houston Exploration is involved in the exploration and development of natural gas and oil reserves offshore in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and onshore in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and West Virginia.
