a little o/t but maybe not. Randi from the Randi is SI thread has a theory called 4dml which means 4 day margin liquidation. We may have been witnessing this in the OSX sector since selling started on Monday.

Dabum. Interrupt it, but not stop it. Forget the details too<G>.

What we have right now looks like a "flight or fight" hormone market. With a seesaw battle going on over which emotion will prevail for more than a day or three<g>.
Wild intraday wipsaws like today may occur repeatedly in the next few days.

Excellent environment for day traders and scalpers.

Maybe I'm too complacent sitting here only with large positions in HGT and a few sm E&Ps (plus a few sm positions), along with a mountain of cash.

On the one hand don't celebrate seeing many folks here get hammered in the past few months. On the other, recent weeks have been the most exciting market sandbox I've had a chance to play in since 87' although this really reminds me more of 73-74' or 81-82' than 87'.

Best

RE: trading curbs.. I believe that the curbs are only limiting program trading. once curbs are in no more program trading can take place til they are removed.. Curbs will not stop market from dropping, but will keep program trading from creating a self reinforcing loop..like what was seen in the crash of 1997... this crash was said to have been caused in large part by uncurbed program trading which created a self reinforcing loop werein selling begat a large point drop which triggered more selling which caused a further drop which triggered more selling..etc.etc..

I believe this is how curbs became created.. and why they exist today.. Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here...
