Brad, is that you?

Note: This list only includes top 50 (edit, 49)... if there is still
interest in this list (I think there is), then it could be expanded.
Tell me what you'd like to see... for instance
does a hot person consist merely of the number of peoplemarks,
or to qualify must they have posted within the last 30 days?

Do you want to see Hot "Movers & Shakers"? For instance,
number of new peoplemarks in past 30 days?

Is 50 enough, or do you want a higher number? (Please be
reasonable)

Also, what do you think of "Most Bookmarked Subjects"?

Over & out...

John

John: If they have not posted in 30 days they should not be on the list. For instance number four Kimberly Lee has not posted since April 15th.

The list should be expanded to 100 as before.

I would like to see a top 100 most bookmarked subjects list as well. It may be of more value than the daily hot list as one subject with no posts has been on that list for a week and on more than one occasion it has appeared on the front page...with not one single post!! And it is not alone. It would be of value to see what threads others find worthy of a bookmark.

I do not know if you can do it or not, but I would prefer for the bookmark count for both individuals and subjects be composed from the bookmarks of members that have posted in the last thirty days as well. I think it is more valuable to know what the current ACTIVE membership is reading. Numbers that include all members will likely be skewed by bookmarks of members that have drifted away from SI. (IE: Someone being on the list that has not posted in over seven months.)

Thanks for the effort...

Regards,
LG

As is that list is worthless. There are people that haven't posted in over a year on the list. I would imagine that the people that have them bookmarked also haven't posted in a year as well.

50 people is plenty if they are active, and even more ideal would be the people that's bookmarks count are also active. I don't care who all the burnout daytraders in the spring had bookmarked, just active members.

Most bookmarked subjects, and most bookmarked subject in the past 30 days, would be useful. Even most bookmarked person in the past 30 days would be amusing if nothing else.

John-

Much needed return to improved surfing capabilities.

Your ideas are great. Please, find a way to include current activity (prior 30/60/90 days) in sorting. If you keep it current, 50 should be enough.

Also, most bookmarked subjects would be great as well. Same current activity criteria would apply.

THANKS!

The most bookmarked posters would be nice. But as long as the info is available, why not make it link into each person's profile (or at least make it searchable) how bookmarked everyone is? It is helpful to know if someone is trusted or followed by many or few. A trend analysis that actually works (unlike Hot Subjects which does not work much) would be nice too.

Also, whatever is done should be done right. Simple statement, but SI's past experience in implementing "improvements" makes all of us wary.

Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal today. Any comments?

Interesting list.
Should have posted in the last 30 days though, otherwise they are not really active.

I think you all need a list of those who have been caught lying the most & a list of the worst and smelliest posters.

How about a List of The Turds that are uncoverd here on SI.

What a shock!

We had all given up on the list because no one would ever respond.

Thank you.

Good to see it back.

>> what do you think of "Most Bookmarked Subjects"?

Great idea! But let's go one step further <gg>. How about threads ranked by number of hits?

The regulars on the Gorilla and King thread have always wondered how many people outside of the SI community have been lurking. Is there any way to get to that number?

Tell me what you'd like to see...

The list is nice. Most subject marked list would be good. I can't belieive it would be George W. Bush that occupies the hot subject.

Another would be the thread or person that gets the most click in a given time period to address the lurker issue.

YES to all the above
------------------
Now one more thing
When I save a post to my hard drive; ( any post )
it does not link back to SI,
A change in the way you format the <aherf=" would
change that.
Ie
Anthony@Pacific <ahref="/stocktalk/profile.aspx?userid=4899810">http://www.siliconinves
-----------------
IF the above was formatted
Anthony@Pacific <ahref="http://www.siliconinvestor.com/profile.aspx?userid=4899810">http://www.siliconinvestor.com/profile.aspx?userid=4899810</a>

In short all your <ahref="/stocktalk/does not let a
saved post link to SI and instead of you all saving the
small amount of HTML code I would like to see them
all start with ae <aherf="http://www.siliconinvestor.com/ so
To link my saved posts back to SI.
It shouldn't take much to change the way the program
writes the code to include the primary www.siiconivestor.com
I know it's not as compact from the standpoint of
code writing "IF the person is already on SI"..
But a post saved on my HD is often important enough to me
that I may want to pull it up latter and say look at the
replies or what else it links to.
As it is now it won't link from my drive to SI.
--------
Or if I email it; the copy they get won't link to SI

That should be obvious. What good is a highly bookmarked poster if they don't contribute? What am I missing here?

Also, I think the Hot List should be just that.....HOT!
In other words, have a Hot People list that have been bookmarked
over the past year, versus the most bookmarked on SI.
I think a time frame warrants hot.

Hi John,

Thanks for the new list!

How about just provide us a script with all the things you mentioned as parameters. Then it can be done on the fly by anyone...

**** HOT PEOPLE -- January, 2001 Edition ****

This is a list of the top 50 most bookmarked SI Members. To qualify,
that member must have posted a message on or after December 1st, 2000.

If you are happy with how this is calculated, we will expand the list
to 100 and post on an SI page for a future version.
