SOXX:

Can't recall much talk today about the SOXX rolling over (not like it wasn't predicted or anything<gg>).

I find it curious that AMAT held on to close above 40, while INTC dropped big (I realize that the chip equipment stocks ALL had a rough day). How 'bout that SOX, support levels broken, rebound? Certainly lived up to its calling of being the drag of the mkt today, over 6% down!

Paul there is no appreciable "discount" or "markup" between QQQ and NDX. can't be since the arbs would be all over it.

what most ppl are seeing is simply that NDX stops calculating at 4ET and QQQ either 4:15 AMEX close or AH close, depending on the quote source.

Re: QQQ vs NDX.

NDX cash stops trading at 4:00 pm. QQQ continues to trade in after hours, reflecting the approximate change in NDX futures.

Once NDX cash starts trading at 9:30 am, NDX cash and QQQ resume their 40:1 relationship. This morning, NDX cash had to drop quite a bit to catch up to NDX futures while QQQ had already been taken down in the aftermarket. That's why QQQ shows a modest increase for today in contrast to decrease in NDX cash.

Guys....I see many people all over SI wondering why the QQQ is at a prem or discount to the NDX and then a ton of reasons why this or that.

The reason is the NDX Futures...watch them, they trade till 4:15 then settle at 4:20pm est. The QQQ also trades till then and is priced off of their action.

"It's the Futures silly, not the Pentiums" <GGG>
