impugning the Democrats' patriotism over the military ballots is creating a backlash. How else do you explain Gephart's and Dashcle's sudden public support for Gore, a man they don't like and would be better without?

Unfortunately, this paranoia, whether justifiable or not, is simply a instinctive reaction brought about by this administration's poor rapport with US servicemen. These folks have been sent far and wide around this globe and asked to do more missions with 40% fewer resources. They have NO ONE TO BLAME BUT THEMSELVES (the democrats).

When one includes the "don't ask, don't tell" provisions, and Gore's claim that any general officer he appoints to the Joint Chiefs must meet a "litmus test" on homosexuality, not providing requested armored reaction forces to the Somalia mission (which led to that debacle), and keeping Air National Guard units flying over Iraq and Yugoslavia.... well... what can one expect?

My former reserve unit just returned from 9 months of deployment to Bosnia. That's 9 months taken away from their civilian lives and their families.

There should just be EVERY DESIRE BY BOTH PARTIES to ensure that military absentee votes are properly processed and counted.

To compare them to some ex-patriot living in another country, or someone who is on vacation during the election is incredibly elitist.

Regards,

Ron
