I have a good friend who holds liberal views. He was making the case that the middle class standard of living now is not what it was 30 yrs ago. This is supposed to argue in favor of wealth distibution. What he fails to realize is that the TOTAL tax burden today, at all levels is far higher than it has ever been. This has caused the net loss of standard of living. Am I the only one who thinks it's odd that Libs think "being for the children" means tax cuts for day care, rather than tax cuts for moms who quit and stay home with their kids? The single biggest cause of poverty is kids having kids they can't afford to raise. Keep them tax dollars coming, we'll spend em, soon as they come in.
