I am a feminist, but I did not support the Equal Rights Amendment because I thought it was unnecessary, and I think history has proved me right. I don't think abortion is a right protected by the Constitution, but I am opposed to the ban on so-called "partial birth abortions" because it does not make an exception for a physican to perform one to save the life or health of the mother, when there is no other choice, and the child can't be delivered prematurely with a reasonable chance of surviving. I think states should keep first trimester abortions legal, and I think some of them will, and some of them won't, if Roe v. Wade were reversed. I think RU-486 is a good idea, but I favor abstinence. I know it's unrealistic, but I wish we could teach young men and women to "just say no." I've taught my boys to keep their pants up and their peckers in their pants and they won't get into trouble. I hope it took. I don't censor what they can look at on the Internet, but I don't take them to R-rated movies. I don't think homosexuals should be banned from the military, and I don't have a problem with homosexual marriage, but I don't think they deserve special rights, either. The day a man is ordered to pay alimony to another man is a day that I will savor for the delicious irony. I am opposed to affirmative action. I am opposed to any type of quota system, including attempts to reduce the number of Asians and Jews from attending state-funded colleges. I think that most recreational drugs should be legalized, including marijuana, LSD, Ecstacy, cocaine, and heroin. I think we need a strong military. I think the federal government needs to butt out of issues that belong to the states, like education, health, and welfare. I think school vouchers are a good idea. I favor the death penalty. I oppose prayer in public schools and at football games held by public schools, but I favor allowing people of all religions to put up displays of religious symbolism in public squares. Where do I fit on your sliding scale?
