I told one gal to get rid of MSFT at $120 and asked her if she had sold when it was 90 and she said it was to late. <ggg> Once this group of folks starts throwing up it is going to get real interesting.

I think it's common knowledge that if things are allowed to get that bad, that is exactly what will happen.

The real interesting battle is going to be what the fed and brokers do to try and keep markets above the levels where J6P just gives up.

Joan, i'm shocked to hear that people so close to retirement are not more careful with their investment styles...you should perhaps point out that there have been phases in history when the market took a quarter of a century to re-visit its highs. as Japan continues to prove, we are not immune from such outcomes in modern times.
and i suppose some will eventually be FORCED to throw up, at precisely the worst possible moment...

i had a friend that i recommended to buy some ntap at 80.00....he watched it go to 47.00 and then climb back up to 144.00.....i pleaded with him to sell at 133.00 and he just laughed and said he was in it for the long haul....lots of these people have lost 1/2 of their money and believe the market will go back up it always does....at what point they will panic i don't know...i pulled my 401k money out and into money market 3 mts ago
