I read that the outcome of the presidential race in Illinois in 1960 had no bearing on who became president because Kennedy won by a margin large enough that if Nixon had carried Illinois the outcome of the national race would have been the same. I provided you a link that supports this but you won't say if what you read was right or wrong.
