This has long been a confusing issue.
Keep up the good work trying to clarify it - esp as, ahem, some of us are punch-drunk from being slammed by the market.

IMO, on-line accounts should have a calculator or spreadsheet or some such evaluation tool to aid in making the computation more transparent.

The easiest solution (looking in the rear-view mirror): NO MARGIN ==> NO MARGIN CALL.

BTW, could you explain the distinction between a Reg T Margin Call and a Maintenance Call?

Thanks so much, will be closing acct., looking at Datek and will call this weekend. I average about 40 trades per week and always use GTC orders, will save 120 per week if executions are as fast as AMTD.
