Vendit, I think the answers to your questions have to do with the long time it takes for a human being to be completed from the time that sperm meets egg.

If you believe that a whole, entire human being comes into existence when sperm and egg conjoin, that's your prerogative, or maybe it would be fairer to say, that's your belief.

As for me, I think that the zygote that is formed is a potential human being, but not a whole, entire human being.

So I don't have a problem with RU-486 or other means to terminate an early pregnancy. No brain wave = no human being.

That's been the position in the Western world for centuries. Abortions before quickening were OK, afterwards, not.

I do have a very serious problem with terminating the life of a being which is viable.

I think the grey area involves fetuses which are in the early stage but not viable.

I think the butt-headed unwillingness of you and people like you to deal with these distinctions is directly causing the unnecessary and unfortunate deaths of human beings who could be saved if you came down from your high horse. Their blood is on your hands. That's my opinion and I am sticking to it.
