<<<Is God "Good" by definition?>>>

Very good question. I will get back with you later on that because I know you are looking for more than just a simple yes or no answer, unfortunately I just don't have the time to respond right now.

God is good by definition but not the definition you might find in websters dictionary. Once a man came running up to Jesus and started off with, Good Master, at this Jesus stopped him short and said, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Of course he wasn't telling the man he wasn't good because in actually he is both God and man but said this in order to see if the man could see clearly define what good meant.

Now you ask if the concepts of good and evil can exist independently of God. Yes and No, depending upon whose reality your using as the basis. If you go back to your websters look up good and then watch a man helping an old lady cross the street you might blurt out "GOOD" in reality he may be a banker escorting his own mother to the bank in order to foreclose on her house....very BAD, ugh!!!

Is God capable of evil? In the eyes of men who are fallen creature by nature, yes. If we saw things through the eyes of God of course the answer would be no. God had said, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my way higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. -Isaiah The only possible solution is for us to line ourselves up to God's thinking or else we will always be in error.
