How much stock is released to SMA when stock is sold?

The amount released is equal to the firm's maintenance requirement. If the firm has imposed a higher maintenance equity requirement on certain stocks, then that is the amount that will be released when the stock is sold.

At Fidelity, for instance, selling PALM will release 60%, CS or QCOM 50%, and COMS 40%, I believe... However, selling off options first is recommended cause you release dollar for dollar!

Does Fidelity publish their margin requirements on their website? Both generally and on specific stocks?
