I'm a big-time Capitalist. And so are my partners in Holland. The rich over there pay 52-60% tax. Here the rich pay 37.5% plus state taxes. They have universal health care, help for mothers with their children, free college education for those who make solid commitments to their education. The Dutch work force is ranked #1 in the world. There is no unemployment at all. They have the bestbper capita industrial output in the world. There are no social problems to speak of. Almost no pollution. here is racial harmony. The prisons are not full. People with drug problems are helped not locked up. Women are treated equal. There is no gun violence. The streets are safe. People are honest. Few are greedy. There is great social tolerance. The state has too much power but it's a trade-off. It's also a democracy like ours so the state is controlled by elected officials. People are generally happy in Holland. The only thing that's missing is the rat race attitude. And with it the stress. When I go there I find myself feling like a money-mad go-getter. That's fine with me so long as I make the money but it makes me wonder. Holland would certainly be a nice place to settle down and raise kids. American will never be like Holland but think before you criticize a system which works. Go over there and check it out for yourself. Sure taxes are high but that is the trade-off. I would suggest the best system would be a combination. The best of both worlds. But Republicans would definitely disagree.
