"Slump" The first thing I'd say is that that "person who knows" should know the name: it's "Network Appliance", not "Network Appliances". I'd like to see them describe the configurations, the cost, and the certified benchmark results demonstrating EMC's advantages. I'm long both EMC and NTAP, BTW... Steve

If that is a major contributing factor in the drop, and if one believes that EMC won't cut into NTAP's share all that much, then one should be encouraged--because Mr. Market will be proved wrong and NTAP will recover. tekboy@afterI'mdead.sob

Chameleon (which is a CLARiiON product) will be just as fast as the best NetApp product, but is priced to be cheaper. John, I guess the price/performance discussion will have to wait until we see both sets of numbers, so I will defer that argument. Think about it, though, as a customer: Do you want to (be) stuck with ONLY a network-attached solution... I thought about it and I don't understand your point. Why not be "stuck" with a NAS solution if it gives you the reliability, functionality, and performance that you need. You are obviously coming at this with a real bias, so the remainder of your comments don't really deserve comment.
