I think McCain would have destroyed Gore in the election. On the other hand, I still feel Bush would make a better president, just because he works better with people. If Bush becomes president I think his cooperation with the Democrats will be seen as the sign of a president weakened by a close election. That would be a shame. I really believe that would have been the hallmark of the Bush presidency without this election fiasco.

If John McCain were anywhere on the Republican ticket, Gore would have been blown out. This wonderful thread of ours would have died out on November 8 or 9.

Barry Goldwater once said: "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue." That type of logic cost McCain a position and made this whole thing such a nail-biter.
