Yes. MOT will need to provide the handsets during the transition, unless there is someone else capable and/or licensed to provide iDEN products.

Edit : Did a quick check at the Nextel site and it looks like all Batwing stuff.

Of course, MOT owns over 25% of NXTL. MOT will help NXTL make the best possilbe trasition from iDEN to whatever 3G technology that is best for them. My guess is that CDMA2000 would be better than WCDMA.
