Mike,

Most recent statement from Rick Hill (yesterday evening) was that NVLS continues to be the Cu leader and continues to record new design wins.

On the other hand, Jim Morgan in an interview to be broadcast first this evening between 7:30 and 8:00ET on CNBC talks about the 3-5 year outlook in dodging a question on how things look now.

My guess, emphasis on the word "guess", is that AMAT may be playing catchup re Cu; and they dropped the ball about 2 years ago when they decided to shelve their 300mm R&D - a decision which was reversed within 2 Qs.

So it appears that some of their competitors have an advantage re some of the new technology. How long that advantage lasts, and how much that advantage may be, are the operative questions.

Ian.
